FASD Manifesto

A Manifesto

A manifesto is our promise to caregivers like you—a clear, heartfelt declaration of what we believe, what we stand for, and the kind of hope we’re here to build together.

The FASD Elephant Manifesto

The world told you to fix the child.
We start by steadying the instrument of change.
You.

Because what you see depends on where you stand.
And when you stand on solid ground, everything looks different.

You’re not broken.
You’re exhausted.
There’s a difference.

They offer techniques, charts, and magic pills for behavior.
We offer capacity.
Because skills don’t stick to a nervous system on fire.

Small is not small.
A breath before the storm.
A pause in the hallway.
A two-minute PQ rep while the kettle boils.
Micro-doses that turn chaos into “I can.”
Again and again and again.

Don’t believe everything you think.
Shame lies.
So does the highlight reel.
You’re not failing.
You’re carrying a load most people can’t see.

We are not here to scold you into “better parenting.”
We’re here to walk with you into better resourcing.
To help you feel the ground under your feet.
To rebuild calm in the body so wisdom can speak.

This is FASD-responsive, not buzzword-aware.
Trauma-responsive, not theory-proud.
Less lecture. More lived.
Less “do it all.” More “do the next right, tiny thing.”

Before: mornings like minefields, nights like interrogations with your own thoughts.
After: the same life, steadier you.
Not perfect. Present.
Not superhuman. Resourced.
Not alone. With us.

Because when you go first, your child has a map.
Regulated caregiver. Regulated home.
Neurons borrow calm. Hope compounds.

We believe in tools that fit actual Tuesdays.
Breath that meets a slammed door.
Boundaries that hold at 3 p.m.
Community that remembers your story and says, “Me too.”

We believe faith and science can sit at the same table.
Stoic resilience and soft compassion can share a cup of tea.
Ice baths and warm voices can both heal a life.

We believe your identity is bigger than your child’s diagnosis.
You are a whole person.
You get to be human here.

This is not a bubble-bath brand.
This is a boots-on-the-floor, hand-on-your-heart, eyes-open practice.
Radical because it’s practical.
Sacred because it’s ordinary.
Innovative because it’s what actually works.

If you’re waiting for the system to save you, you’ll wait forever.
If you’re waiting to feel ready, you’ll never begin.
Start small. Start now. Start with you.

Read a page and exhale.
Do a rep while the spaghetti boils.
Step outside and let the cold remind you you’re still here.
Ask the braver question:
“How is this happening for me, not to me?”

We are the tribe that refuses to choose between love and limits.
Between expertise and empathy.
Between vision and the next small step.

We are Praise for Change.
We equip caregivers to reclaim calm, capacity, and hope—one micro-dose at a time.
Because when you thrive, your child gets a better world to grow up in.

This is your invitation and your reminder:
Be better—not perfect, just better.
Stand where you can see.
Breathe where you can choose.
Belong where you are understood.

Come as you are.
Leave more resourced than you arrived.
Stay for the people who will stand with you when it’s hard.

We begin with you.
We go together.
We change what’s possible.
